Paul, do you mind if I put a link to your blog off my military atheist page on the American Atheists website? I think it’s really good! Kathleen

  2. Paul,

Found your blog via the JREF forums. I too have a Korean mother and an American father, and I too grew up an Army brat. Just wanted to tell you thanks for the good work, come home safe.

      Thanks Ann.

I guess I was just keeping the tradition alive when I married a Korean woman.

      Best of luck!

Hi, I too am a atheist service member/Iraqi veteran. I am writing a book about atheists in foxholes and was wondering if you might be able contribute some insight or stories to be included in support of the place of atheists within the armed forces. I would appreciate any help you could give me!

  4. Back in the park, who knew there was such an exceptional writer in there…

  5. Paul,
I am a new member of the MAAF. I am also a Vietnam Vet, 11Bravo, 82nd Airborne Div, 3rd brigade 2/505th…an atheist in a fox hole.
(I was a “Leg” replacement, not AB qualified, btw)

I am writing for two reasons: First to thank you for your service and for this website. Dispelling the inane concept that one needs to believe in the supernatural to be an American, a patriot, or a service person has always been important to me. In fact, one chapter in my book describes my first hand introduction to theist intolerance in the military

The second reason is to introduce you to my book “The Atheist Camel Chronicles: Debate Themes and Arguments for the Non-Believer” and a special offer to military personnel and vets.

It is in the top 25 best selling atheist themed books on Amazon.comUS and has been since its release late June/early July .
I am already selling it $3.00 below amazon’s price through my book’s website, but am offering to all service people and veterans an additional discount. If ordered through my book’s site and by mentioning “Veteran discount” or “Active Military discount” in the paypal comments field I will refund $2.00. That would be a 31% discount from the Amazon price.

If you can let your readership know about this opportunity I’d be grateful. I know they will find it a valuable resource and read. Thank you.

    Yours in reason and reality,

  6. Keep posting Paul, I’ll keep reading. Stay safe.

  7. My BASD was 1 Apr 03. I walked into the recruiter’s office and basically said “Where do I sign up to kill jihadists?”. That was 22 Jan 03. I would’ve gone into the Infantry, but…. I had just gotten married on 18 Jan, and my new wife wouldn’t have it.
I’m a gearhead wrench-spinner anyways, so I took the offer of being a 63B. I thought it’d be cool, because mechanics can go anywhere, and I’d still be a rifleman first.
I did my IET at Ft. Benning, with the 1/38 Inf. BN. That was almost the most fun I’d had in my life. Except in April at Ft. Benning, it tends to be COLD at 0500. >__< nln …. to the VA. I can't even get accupuncture here. Grrrrrr……
